PS: I skied this mountain!! [ Squaw Valley in Tahoe where the winter Olympics were held 50 years ago ] After only ever have gone skiing at Peek ‘n Peak this was a pretty big deal to me, it was awesome! And it was 55 degrees and we got to ski without coats on, so that was pretty awesome too :)

Back from California | Family Portraits + Vacation!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

We just flew in from California late last night and the trip was absolutely amazing. It was my first time in Cali and we did so many fun things while we were out there. We photographed two families at their homes in Berkeley, which I will share on the blog in the upcoming weeks, celebrated my birthday skiing at Squaw Mountain in Tahoe where my cake read “Heather is 28…and hot!” [ Thanks, Murl! ;) ], ate way too much yummy food and drank wine in Napa and Sonoma, spent some time at the Pier in San Francisco and best of all, hung out with family that we don’t see nearly often enough.

That is a shot of the vineyards surrounding the Robert Mondavi winery in Napa Valley. Now it is back to the real world [ and the gym… and a more reasonable calorie intake! ]. I will be responding to emails and phone calls starting on Monday. I will be posting both Heather & Nate and Kelley & Mike’s engagement sessions today and Monday.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition comes to Erie, PA!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

So Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover crew have embarked on a new mission right here in Erie! With the help of Maleno Real Estate & Development one lucky family is getting a brand new home! Clara Ward is the lucky winner of this amazing gift, read about her inspiring story at the Maleno Extreme Makeover website!

What’s this have to do with HNP? I was honored to be recommended to help photograph the progress and document things for the builders [ the Maleno family ] along with Rachel at Puremotif photography and design. Rachel is shooting the first half before jetsetting to fabulous Italy with her hubby! I’ll pick up on Sunday afternoon and shoot through the rest of the week. So I won’t be spending too much time in the studio but if you email or call and leave a message I will try to get back to you as fast as possible!

Yesterday was so much fun seeing everything come together prior to the door knock, meeting the cast and crew and of course sitting in *the* bus :) I can’t post photographs here on my site but you can watch the progress by checking out the photos on the Maleno site. Go check out the great pictures Rachel has taken so far that were posted from Day 1 and the press conference and Pep Rally prior.

Want to help out? There are a ton of side projects going on to help the entire Erie area — blood drives, canned food drives and more. You can check out the Grace church’s website for details! I hope you will help in any way you can!

Updates and Follow me on Twitter

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Its been a while since I’ve posted, I’ve been so busy working on my new wedding website — I don’t want to promote it much yet until I’m satisfied with it but it can easily be found for those who care to find it at this point.

I’ve been photographing a bunch of Vixen Sessions and even have a really exciting announcement to make about that later today!  So stay tuned — follow me on the Vixen Sessions Twitter or check the The Vixen Diaries blog later this afternoon.

I’ve also been working on some really cool products for seniors, photos to come of the books when they come in! Also been photographing preschoolers, reworking portrait packages, meeting with brides and grooms [ and booking a bunch! ] and just getting ready for the start of wedding season. Tomorrow I will be second shooting a wedding with my friend Rachel from Puremotif Photography and Design.

Also, I finally succumbed to the Twitter world after much thought about it. I plan to announce specials via Twitter just for my “tweeps” … I’ve still gotta get used to this lingo! Anyway, you can follow me @hnphoto and @vixensessions!

Be back soon with some new photos!!

happy mothers day maternity picture

Happy mother’s day to all you wonderful ladies out there! I hope you all had a lovely day with your children and grandchildren. I went out with my mother, one of her sisters and my grandmother yesterday and had an awesome time! It was nice to see my grandmother doing so well for the first time in quite a while.

Thanks to my mother for playing such a huge role in my life — you are beyond amazing, mom!! Thanks for all the support, the behind the scenes secretary work, and being one of my biggest fans. I love you!

Note: The above photo is from a maternity session last week that I hope to get posted in the next few days, so come back and check it out soon!

Happy Spring! Some Flower Photography

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Yay, it finally feels like Spring is really here! The sun is shining and I didn’t need to wear a coat as I walked to work today. Spring is a time for growth and all things new and I’m embracing the season — the blog and website will have a whole new look very soon! You can find hints of the new look right in these images down below!

Last week my mom brought some flowers to the studio for me and I had to photograph them, they were just so beautiful, and it made me realize I really LIKE photographing flowers :)   Anyone with a beautiful garden or flower shop? I’d love to do some photography for you!

MORP Pictures…

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Last Saturday we squeezed some time into our schedule to go to North East High School and photograph their MORP dance. We only had a couple days notice before the dance so we didn’t get to come up with some elaborate backdrop to feature the kids on but it was still a good time! It looked like the kids were having a really great time and DJ Joel Miller was on top of his game, as expected. I’d only seen him at weddings up until last Saturday and thought he was a great disc jockey but it was fun seeing him at a dance – I’d hire him, he knows how to get everyone dancing! During slow times Murl and I played a little bit and thought I’d share those just for something different!

DJ Joel Miller even stepped in for a shot –

And I wanted to end on a photo of part of my new studio! This is an image of the gallery which is what you will see when you walk in the front door. I’m loving it! What do you think? Its still a work in progress at the moment but we are getting closer to being open! We have already started meeting with clients at the studio, so if you need some portraits made or want to meet with us about your wedding, we are ready to meet with you!

Come back soon for some exciting news and a possible opportunity for you — look for it on Monday!

Back from the honeymoon!

I’m a married lady :)

Wedding photo by Genevieve Nisly, outdoor winter portrait

The wedding was perfect [ see some more of the fantastic photographs by Genevieve Nisly here: http://genevievenislyblog.com/2009/01/26/wedding-at-the-ambassdor-ballroom-erie-pa/ ] and the honeymoon to Costa Rica was absolutely divine. It was just what I needed. I thought I would share a few of the images that Murl and I got while in Costa Rica.

The first shot is an image taken of the Caribbean at Salsa Brava, the colors in this image just don’t do it justice but all we took to take pictures with was a small point and shoot, I guess that’s what we get!

This picture was taken just after the Super Bowl. We were at a soda [ restaurant ] by the ocean. It was really hard to explain to these people who didn’t speak any English whatsoever what we were hoping to watch but I can speak a teeny tiny bit of Spanish and we made it happen. It was so amazing to watch it by the sea with the waves crashing down behind us and sand between our toes…not the usual surroundings for any Super Bowl I’ve ever watched at least!

Here is a picture Murl took of me during our canoe ride at the Sloth Rehabilitation Center somewhere around Cahuita, Costa Rica. We saw a bunch of birds, heard howler monkeys and saw some sloths while there. Sloths feel a lot like your hair the day after your wedding/prom. It was an interesting experience to pet a couple of them!

Here is a shot I took of Murl while he was fishing in Lake Arenal at the base of the Arenal Volcano. It was such an amazing place to be!

And here is a shot of sunset at the end of our fishing trip on Lake Arenal.

It was a great trip but I’m ready to get back to work and also start moving my studio. Busy busy! Check back soon to see what I’m up to!  | Heather

Can you help me?

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

To all you married people out there, and also to those of you that are engaged — where did/do you find vendor information? I’m curious where you all go to find your florist, your dj, and on and on. Are you going based on referrals from friends? Are there some good online communities? I’ve been looking around trying to find vendors for my wedding and I’m not coming up with too many leads. Please post some links in the comments section or email me if you’d rather. I would love to hear from you! Depending on how many responses I get, there may be a prize involved!

PS – I found *the* dress! Life is good :)

Our “E-Session” in Vancouver

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

So I’m finally getting around to posting our impromptu session with Danelle and Ral of RAD Studio in Vancouver. I’m kind of posting a bunch, I just think they are so fun – I hope you enjoy them as well!

We were just traipsing around Vancouver taking in the sights and they showed us a few locations where the Bebb’s make the magic happen and we ended up doing a mini-shoot before the sun went down. It was so much fun and ended up being a learning experience at the same time. I picked up a few directional ideas that I’m planning to put to use – oh and I’m definitely going to embrace shooting into the sun! Thanks guys, we love these images – you truly do rock ;) ! Thanks for being an open book!
