Another California Family Session

Friday, March 5th, 2010

This is the second family I photographed while out in California. The parents are so genuine and sweet and their kids share this same attitude and kind hearts. The boys are both very artistically talented and are now exploring their musical talents; it was fun photographing them as they played their instruments :) It was so great that after their session was up the kids were surprised an hour had already passed since they had been having so much fun!

I’ll end this post on a triptych of the boys and their swordfight. It was totally cute that they posed for each shot and after the shutter clicked they moved to a new pose and then another. They posed all the way to their faces – it was adorable!

I wish we would have gotten to spend more time with your family, Solange, but it was wonderful seeing you all!

Celebrating Family with Fun Portraits

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Getting the chance to leave the snow behind and photographing in lush California was a dream come true. I have traveled a lot of places but I’d never visited California before. I didn’t believe it would be so green and in bloom in February, it was a wonderful surprise and made for my warmest birthday ever at a comfortable 70 degrees before heading up into the mountains later that evening.

As I was preparing these images for the blog they made me smile so much! This family is so fun and spunky and they just unabashedly embrace life with a passion. The children were aware of the camera but it didn’t make them retreat or act nervous, they just had fun being kids and expressing themselves! It really was a treat to watch them. I’m going to kick this post off with a couple of triptychs of both of the kids; they were having a good time showing me their dancing skills!

PS: I skied this mountain!! [ Squaw Valley in Tahoe where the winter Olympics were held 50 years ago ] After only ever have gone skiing at Peek ‘n Peak this was a pretty big deal to me, it was awesome! And it was 55 degrees and we got to ski without coats on, so that was pretty awesome too :)

Fifth Anniversary Portraits – Kim + Dusty | Erie PA Family Portrait Photographer

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The other night we met up with Kim and Dusty at their beautiful home here in town and had a fun family portrait session. I’ve known Dusty for decades [ wow, we are getting old! ] and I met his wife Kim when we were all fairly young so it was nice to shoot and hang out with the two of them and their two poodles Bella and Hunter. Bella is a natural poser while Hunter took some work to get him to pay attention but he is cute even if he is looking off into the distance :)   Here are a couple of my favorites from their session, you can find a few more on the HNP facebook page.

Debunking Family Portrait Myth #34 | Family Portrait Photographer – Erie PA

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Family Portrait Myth #34: Everyone should wear the same outfit.  While this is cute and in some instances works awesomely, its not who you *really* are as a family, is it? Does your family frequently go out in public wearing all white t-shirts and jeans? If you do then matching is perfect! But most families don’t normally dress that way and at HNP we believe your family portraits should reflect who you really are!

For tips and tricks for pulling your family portrait together email us and we’ll get you all set up for a great photo shoot that captures who your family really is! We’ve also got a special promotion going on for family portraits — schedule your family’s session for any week day starting tomorrow through August 7th and you will receive a free 11×14 with your paid session!

We’ve photographed two families in the last two days that mixed up their outfits and it looks great! Here is an example from yesterday — they just stayed in the same color family to keep it cohesive.

And just because its too cute not to post, here’s a solo shot of the twins! Lovin’ that they don’t match and how adorable their shirts look with that zebra print chair!!

First Portrait Session in the New Studio!

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Last weekend my sister-in-law brought her two adorable kids in for some fun in the new portrait studio.  We got to experiment with some new backgrounds and my niece seemed to enjoy having her portrait made for the most part – twirling and dancing and chatting. She’s growing up so fast! My nephew surprised me by really wanting to be in the photographs. I think he had a lot of fun posing with his sister – he’s a great big brother. :)

Christmas Family Portraits

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

A few weeks ago I photographed the Quezada’s family portrait for themselves and their Christmas cards. They are such an adorable family I wanted to share their card with you. I also wanted to let you know that its not too late to order your New Year’s cards with images taken at HNP recently or if you want to purchase an image to make your own cards that is an option, too.

Rachel + Ian’s outdoor portraits | Clymer, NY

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

I thought it was such a great idea when Rachel and Ian came to me looking for some portraits they could give to people for Christmas gifts. Pictures are definitely one of the most personal gifts you can give someone! Who doesn’t love displaying portraits of their loved ones?

Yesterday the three of us drove out onto some back roads in Clymer, NY for an outdoor portrait session. We had a beautiful blue sky and a few remnants of autumn color at a couple of the locations. Here are some of my favorites:

Sunset Family Portraits

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Last night I stopped up to meet my brother’s family’s new puppy Chloe. The light from sunset was so gorgeous and the dog was so cute that I just had to bust out my camera for an impromptu lifestyle portrait session. I wish my brother would have been there, but at least I got these:
